Of Lancaster, Massachusetts and Shrewsbury. Later he removed to Westminster, Massachusetts and was one of the petitioners for the incororation of Gardner, Massachusetts which was then a part of Westminster. John sold land in Worcester County in 1765 probably about the time he removed to Westminister.

Both he and Sarah "owned the covenant" Jan. 4, 1767 in the Shrewsbury Church. He served in the American Revolution as sergeant in Capt. Elisha Jackson's company in 1775, and in Col. Asa E. Whitcomb's regiment. Later he served in Capt. Gideon Parker's regiment--Col. Moses Little's regiment in 1777. See Herrick's History of Gardner, also a History of Gardner written by a Glasier.
