Note | Oliver was a carpenter by trade and probably lived at one time in Oakham as the Census of 1790 has the following: "Oliver Glazier, Oakham, Mass., 1-3-2." He served in the American Revolution when he was only seventeen years old. The "Hasting's Memorial" has much data on his descendants. Children birth records from Boylston, Mass. Records. A SOLDIER OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (MASSACHUSETTS). Oliver Glazier, Private, Capt. David Neere's Co: marched Sept 18, 1779, arrived at place of rendezvous and discharged Nov. 20 1779; service 2 months 7 days. Travel included at Rhode Island; company detached to serve in Col. John Jacobs' (Light Infantry) regiment; roll sworn to at Bolton; also, descriptive list of men raised to reinforce Continental Army for term of 6 months, agreeable to resolve of June 5, 1780, returned as received of Justin Ely, Commissioner, by Brig. Gen. John Glover, at Springfield, July 13, 1780; age 17 yrs. Stature 5 ft. 8 in.; complexion light; engaged for town of Lancaster; marched to camp July 13, 1780, under command of Capt. Thomas Pritchard, also, pay roll for 6 months men raised by the town of Sterling for service in the Continental Army during 1780, marched to camp July 10, 1780; discharged Dec. 3, 1780; service, 5 months 3 days, travel included. Reference: vol. 6, p. 488, Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailers in the American Revolution. The following record very likely refers to the same soldier: Oliver Glazier, Lancaster List of men raised for six months service and returned by Brig. Gen. Patersen as having passed muster in a return dated Camp Teteway Oct. 25, 1780. Reference: Same volume, p. 486. Also pp. 159, 172, annals of Lancaster Mass. Oliver Glazier died in Northborough, Feb 25, 1856. His grandson Stephen Glazier filed a list of the surviving children of said Oliver Glazier, dated Apr 25, 1856, Worcester Probate Record, Series A, Case 23921. Oliver Glazier was a Pensioner in 18a56. His surving children were: Walker Glazier, John Glazier, Jotham Glazier, Jabez Glazier, Dexter Glazier, Lydia Glazier, Asubah Pierce, and Elvira Worcester.
