| Note | Died about 1858 on the Merced River, Liverpool, Lancaster, England, in a boating accident. John was part owner and shipcaptain of a ship sailing from London to Japan (Life of Mary Cummings). "List of Names in the Glasgow Branch of the LDS Church,Baptized by Robert McNaught 15 Dec 1848 and confirmed 17 Dec 1848 by same in Lanark, Scotland (note shows left for London 22 July 1850).Film #0104152 adds to the confirmation the names of John Shields and William McKeachie. Glasgow Branch Office Bearers: John Orrock Elders Office: Ordained by Arthur Maxwell at Glasgow on 10 July 1853. Although the Church records show a birth date of 14 Jan 1814, the Kirkcaldy parish records show the birth as 8 Jul 1807. "John, son of John Orrock, Barber and July Chalmers his spouse Bap. Also, there is no John Orrock born in 1814 in the Kirkcaldy parish records;no Orrocks are born between 1807 and 1830.
