Note

Jonas Booth had a brother, Zavala V. Booth, who was a distinguished civil war hero. Jonas was born in the state of New York in 1842 and lived there with his parents until 1848 when he moved with his parents to Michigan. He lived there until he went to fight in the Union army during the civil war. He served in the 25th Regiment , Michigan Infantry. He was with Sherman when he marched thru Georgia. He was wound- ed and when they tried to amputate his leg , he drew his pistol and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to take off his leg. The doctor's revised their diagnosis and dressed the wound. Jonas did many day's hard work after that. He was mustered out of service on June 1, 1865 and returned to Mich Two years later he married Justina Taylor and the following year , 1868, came to Minnesota, taking a homestead in the town of Reynolds.

Another account says Jonas served during the Civil War as a member of Company G, Twentieth Michigan Infantry.
