b. also given: 13 Dec 1814. He helped his father on the farm, in early years, and then took charge of a mill and store in Compton; in Mar. 1851, he settled in Waterloo, P.Q., and but for a 4-year sojourn in Roxton Falls, P.Q. stayed there., He served as Mayor of both Roxton and Waterloo, and was Warden of the County; also ex-officio director of the S.E.R.R., and director of the Stanstead, Stafford and Chambly R.R., and later its treasurer. Elected Senator, 19 Feb. 1876, for the constituency of Bedford, to the Dominion Parliament, he served for several years. He was a Watervill, P.Q., in Mar. 1848 and then wrote his brother, John-Harrington, addressing him as "Capt. John H. Stevens Quarter Masters Department, Vera Cruz, Mexico.
